What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Concentrating on all areas of the body and particularly those of the spine, Chiropractic helps a wide range of injuries that involve joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves (World Health Organisation, 2005).
What do Chiropractors do?
In your first session you will have an in-depth assessment with the Chiropractor where you will be asked about your general health, activity levels, and past medical history to ensure you get the right treatment for you. The examination centres around your complaint, but other tests may be carried out to rule out other more serious problems. The chiropractor will then discuss their findings with you to help put a plan in place.
Once your Chiropractor has determined your diagnosis they will use manual therapy techniques as part of an individualised program containing exercises, stretches, advice, kinesiology taping, acupuncture and other various interventions to best return you to full health as quickly as possible.
What do I need to wear or bring with me?
You are advised to wear comfortable clothing such as shorts and t-shirt that allows our Chiropractor appropriate access to the area that needs assessing and treating. However, in some circumstances the Chiropractor may request the removal of an item of clothing to assess and treat an area efficiently. Please note that your dignity will be respected at all times during your visit to Agile Therapy.
Why choose Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is proven to alleviate numerous musculoskeletal conditions with the most common being low back and neck pain. Chiropractic is a package of care rather than one specific type of manipulation or treatment. Chiropractors are trained in a range of therapeutic techniques; these techniques are currently recommended by the National Institute of Excellence (NICE) as highly effective in treating back pain. The treatment will vary depending on the condition and will be tailored to the individual.
Chiropractic can help with the following:
• Acute and chronic back pain
• Acute and chronic neck pain
• Headaches (Cervicogenic)
• Upper limb problems including shoulder and elbow complaints
• Lower limb problems including hip and knee complaints
